KAUST implemented optimizations to its Facilities Management services that took effect on January 1, 2024.
These optimizations have been carefully considered in partnership with our maintenance service provider to continue delivering a premium service by optimizing the use of the allocated resources.
The key changes that have been implemented for the respective services are:
Campus and Community Maintenance
- Hours that works are done in the community will be limited to 08:00 to 23:00.
- Painting (other than touch up), epoxy flooring, carpet flooring, vinyl flooring and wall fabrics services are now provided as paid services.
- Response times for non-emergency maintenance requests have been adjusted (for details click here).
- Residents will be responsible for the cost of replacing KLE accessories (e.g., microwave plates and fridge shelves).
Horticulture and Pest Control
- The frequency of litter picking has been adjusted from daily to three times a week.
- Disease/plant protection in occupied backyards is now offered as a paid service.
- The threshold for weeds has been raised from 10% to 20% in all areas with grass, including parks, front gardens, and sports fields.
- Grass cutting frequency has been adjusted from three times to two times per month.
Soft Services
- Laundry service for lab gowns will be capped at 3000 gowns per year, and will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Any additional requests will be offered as a paid service
- Vacant Unit Preparation (VUP) and Short Stay laundry services (including bedding and curtains) will now be offered as a paid services.
- Revised model for janitorial support during events.
- Note: Support for Business Event Services provided by Office Services will continue to be provided free of charge.
- Cleaning frequencies and services in various areas have been optimized, including:
- Toilets, offices, recreation areas, schools, and labs.
- Office cleaning on workdays will now focus on bin cleaning only.
- Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panel cleaning.
- Consumable replenishment for offices, conference rooms, and VUPs
- Tickets raised for non-emergency situations will be subject to a charge.
- Proactive office condition inspection services will be discontinued, and customers are requested to report any issues or defects through the 959@FM App, by calling 012 808 0959, or by email at fmcallcenter@kaust.edu.sa.
