Waste Management Services
Solid waste generated from the University operations and activities is diverse in nature. At KAUST, the Facilities Management (FM) organization is responsible for providing waste management services throughout the township. The main services provided by the waste management include the followings.
Waste management service continuously evaluates its initiatives and programs to improve the minimization, reuse, and recycling of municipal solid waste generated from the University operations. As a part of our ongoing effort to maximize recycling and reduce the amount of solid waste being disposed of in landfills, we have developed and supported a variety of programs and initiatives which include: commingled recyclables collection, reuse collection, used kitchen oil collection, establishing community recycling drop off stations, awareness campaigns etc.
Waste management also provides city cleaning services to keep the University's external space clean and tidy. The city cleaning service is undertaken by the mechanical and manual sweeping of roads, parking, and public spaces.
