Saudi Arabia is bidding to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and the entire KAUST community is invited to join in the excitement!

On Wednesday, December 11, gather at Discovery Square to cheer for the Kingdom and watch the FIFA General Assembly’s live voting on the country’s bid, which earned a score of 419 out of 500 — the highest in the tournament’s history.

• Event time: 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Live broadcast begins: 5:00 p.m.

This Campus and Community (C&C)-organized event will be packed with exciting football/soccer-themed activities, including a thrilling football freestyle show, an intense football shootout, and a fun-filled World Cup quiz. Enjoy lively face painting, energizing music, and an entertaining emcee who will keep the excitement kicking! Livestream viewing locations will be set up across campus as well to ensure that everyone can take in the announcement.

KAUST will be adorned with Saudi national flags and green lights to mark the occasion. C&C encourages everyone to wear green and white to show their pride and enjoy this exhilarating moment for the Kingdom.

Colleagues who wish to join the celebration and watch the live announcement at Discovery Square or other locations may leave work at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, if operations allow. Please coordinate with your manager.

An additional Work Haul bus will depart from KAUST at 3:30 p.m., alongside the regular schedule.
