Rainy season preparedness

Dear KAUST Community,  

Please remember that weather conditions can change rapidly and, while one area may appear safe, another could be under different conditions. Please avoid all areas and roads with water accumulation and caution is advised when traveling in adverse weather conditions. 

More precautionary information can be found on the Emergency Management webpage in the Severe Weather section. The “Emergency” feature on KAUST Central hosts the Emergency Action Guide providing adverse weather preparedness details. 

Updates about services affected by adverse weather will be posted on The LENS. 

Please check the status of KAUST services during adverse weather events. 

Water drains need to be kept clear of obstacles. The following steps can help ensure water drains freely: 

  • Regular cleaning of balcony surfaces to remove any dirt, leaves, and twigs. 
  • Perform a balcony drain test to check drainage holes by pouring a bucket of water down balcony drains. 
  • Ensure that the floor drains are not covered with objects such as carpets, plant pots or other items that will slow or stop water from flowing.
