The KAUST Triathlon event held on Friday, November 29, highlighted our community's passion for sports and friendly competition. Over 100 participants aged 16 and up tested their strength in the following categories:
Individual sprint distance: 400m swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run.
Individual Olympic distance: 1600m swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run.

A big shout out and thank you to all participants and the cheering spectators for playing a significant role in making the KAUST Triathlon an exciting, fun-filled successful event.
Special thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors of the Triathlon 2024: Taqa Geothermal, Campus and Community and Student Life. Many thanks also to the families supporting the runners with water in the Island area!

Olympic Men's overall Winner: Luis Silva with the lead time of 2:00:50
Olympic Women's overall Winner: Sarah Kennedy with the lead time of 2:26:09
Sprint Men's overall Winner: Ignacio de Las Heras with the lead time of 1:03:55
Sprint Women's overall Winner: Giulia Benecci with the lead time of 1:05:08
Team Winner, LAST MINUTE: Juan Manuel Salazar, Michael Parsons, Mitch Maclarn with the lead time of 59:10

The event was open to the KAUST community and externals over 16 years of age.
Got the triathlon bug now? Why not start training now? Next year’s event will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, and will be open to the KAUST community and externals over 16 years of age. More details will be announced next year.
The event is related to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on promoting good health and well-being, and the Saudi Vision 2030 objective to increase public participation in sports and athletic activities.
This event is organized by the Triathlon Committee, made up of dedicated volunteers from the community, Red Sea Cyclists, and the Bricks Student Triathlon Club, with support from Campus and Community (C&C) and Student Life.
