Community Programs
Our Aljar Program (meaning neighbor) is a special needs-based initiative we undertake at certain points throughout the year. We focus on economically disadvantaged families, orphans, and persons with disabilities – working closely with charitable associations to identify these targeted groups. Aljar provides meaningful and useful gifts related to education, health, wellness and nutrition. Initiatives within Aljar include Ramadan Food Pantry, Sharing is Caring and Computer & Furniture Reallocation.
The KAUST Sharing is Caring campaign is an annual community initiative that has been running since 2015 bringing community together during Ramadan and Eid.
The initiative helps improve access to education and enhances home learning environments through targeted, need-based support.
Organized on October 12 at the Nesma Sewing Center in Thuwal to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. More than 150 women and girls from the local community attended, along with partners from the health care and education sectors.
Two health and well-being workshops were hosted on November 22 and 29 2017 at KAUST, delivered by Amna Malik, the clinical dietician based at KAUST Health, with the support of four nutritionists from Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospitall.
KAUST and Nahdi Medical Company have been working together to create a series of fun, informative advice sessions on healthy living for Thuwal Intermediate and High School students.
