Campus and Community (C&C) is thrilled to announce the launch of Cool Reads Open Public Library, a new way to share the joy of reading in our community.
Organized by the Waste Management team’s Reuse Program, the Cool Reads Library transforms books brought to the recycling center into a valuable community resource. In the spirit of sustainability, we’ve repurposed an old fridge into a charming book cabinet, turning waste into a wonderful community resource.
The first Cool Reads Library is now open at Tamimi Supermarket - and this is just the beginning! We plan to open more locations soon in the community. Keep an eye out for a Cool Reads Library near you.
Library Rules:
Scan to borrow a book: To borrow a book, scan the QR code on the fridge and fill out the checkout form. Please return the book once done so others can enjoy it too.
Respect the Books: Handle with care so everyone can enjoy them.
No Hoarding: Please take only what you need to ensure fair access for everyone.
Community Driven: This is a self-service library. Please help us keep it neat, organized and welcoming.
Donate old books: Donations must go to the Reuse Center—not placed directly in the cabinet. Our team will review, record, stamp, and distribute approved books to library locations.
Share the Knowledge: Invite friends and family to borrow and donate.
Let's celebrate sustainability, creativity, and a love for reading together. Happy reading, KAUST!
