This October, KAUST stands together with the global community to raise awareness, promote early detection, and support those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.
We all have a connection to breast cancer, whether through our own diagnosis or that of a loved one. It is the most common cancer in women, with a new case diagnosed every 14 seconds worldwide.
We invite all community members to get involved: learn more, get checked, and join activities that educate, inspire, and honor.

October 1 to 31 | KAUST Beacon & Campus Buildings
Throughout October, the KAUST Beacon and key campus buildings will be lit pink to symbolize our commitment to breast cancer awareness. Take photos, share them, and help spread the message of hope using the #KAUSTBreastCancerMonth.

Available year-round, with special promotion in October
Early detection saves lives. Breast cancer screenings are available for eligible community members.
Mondays in October | 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. | ECC3
A safe, drop-in group for anyone affected by breast cancer — from those recently diagnosed to survivors, caregivers, and loved ones. Share, listen, and connect in a supportive environment.
Thursday, October 9 | 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. | Discovery Square
An evening of music, community stalls, and celebration. Come together, shop local, enjoy live entertainment, and show your support.
Tuesday, October 28 | 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. | Building 2, Level 5, Room 5209
Hosted by KAUST Health experts, this session will cover prevention, risk factors, signs and symptoms, treatment, and support.
Wednesday, October 29 | 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Zoom Meeting
Delivered by our EAP provider Lyra Wellbeing, this session will provide information, guidance, and support for KAUST employees.
Friday, October 31 | 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. | Harbor Sports Club
3K Walk (children under 12 free, no registration required) | 5K & 10K Run (ages 12+)
Now in its third year, Run for Cure unites our community in raising awareness and showing support for breast cancer. Bring family, friends, and visitors — and don’t forget to wear pink! raise awareness, honor those affected, and show our unwavering support.
These activities are related to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on promoting Good Health and Well-being.
